An Interview with Pam Scott, CEO at DiamondWave

While I am a big fan of of James Allen on the site I am always looking for other reliable and honest vendors I feel comfortable recommending to my readers, one such company is DiamondWave.  DiamondWave is a smaller family-run business that prides itself on the individual attention they provide their customers.

Recently I had the chance to chat with Pam Scott from DiamondWave and wanted to share with you some f the topics we spoke about.

Randy:
Can you tell me a little about your background before coming to DiamondWave?

Pam:
I worked for Costco Wholesale for 18 years and was in the buying dept. I started the Special Order Diamond Program and purchased all high end GIA diamonds and set the standards for diamond clarity, quality and cut that they are still using today.

I have been taught by the best in the industry on what characteristics of the diamond are, what is important.

I left Costco in 2005 for Amazon.com to be the Senior diamond buyer but the fit was not a good fit for me, I like quality merchandise and had a hard time buying cubic zirconium and 10k so we had a parting of the ways.

2006 I took a position with a top diamond site holder in NY and with the crash of the economy I left in 2007

2007 I was hired as the diamond buyer for DiamondWave which had not yet launched. I did all the diamond jewelry buying for the site as I still do today.

2008 The site sold, the new owners made me CEO and I continue to do all the diamond buying and the consulting. We are a small family owned company and take pride in our personal attention we can give each customer.

We launched in April of 2008 and have been building the business ever since.

We have access to many castings that are not seen on the site and we have our own designer for one of kinds, if we are able to do it.

Randy:
What was it that attracted you to DiamondWave?

Pam:
Honestly I needed a job when the bottom dropped out in the economy. I would have been at Costco today if I had made the choice to go to Amazon; we often think the grass is greener on the other side. However if it wasn’t for all of this taking place I would not be in the position I am today. Not too many people can say they love what they do and have a passion.

Randy:
What are your key selling points over other online diamond vendors?

Pam:
You know they do a great job also; the bigger online companies have been in business since 1998 and have established themselves. The only difference is that we are a family owned company without the overhead. We cast are items as they are ordered, we don’t have other diamond vendors drop shipping our items. Most of our diamonds are Canadian mined diamonds. We don’t have to be the top selling site in the world we want to build are name based on integrity and low costs that we can pass on to our customers.

Randy:
What do you tell people when they ask if it’s safe to buy diamonds online?

Pam:
I let them know that we offer a 45 day money back guarantee, we are not like some sites that sell top brown diamonds, we hand pick each diamond and we make to order. We have a 10 year trade up program for all GIA stones, with no limit of what you have to spend to have this offer.

Randy:
What is the most popular combination of the 4C’s selling these days on your site?

Pam:
We sell a lot of special request diamond earrings, pendants and ring. We also have a good selection of non certified stones that are still in the cut grade of very good or better.

Round diamonds are by far the most popular but in this economy people want to have quality without going over their budgets.

Randy:

Thank you, and have a good day.
